Product Group: Book
ISBN: 1893554619
Binding/Media: Paperback - 463 pages
Condition: Very Good
Comments: Oversized trade paperback, as pictured, this is America's Bishop: The Life and Times of Fulton J. Sheen by Thomas C. Reeves, from Encounter Books (San Francisco:2002). This book has owner's name inked lightly on inside cover, otherwise I would have graded it Like New. It was part of a collection of a Catholic woman who bought far more books than she could ever read - many (if not most) of them sat, new and unread, on her shelves. This copy of the first full biography of Bishop Sheen is clean and tight. « if ( document.getElementById ) { document.writeln('Show less'); }

by Steve Martin
Product Group: Book
ISBN: 1416553657
Binding/Media: Paperback - 224 pages
Condition: Very Good
Comments: Insightful, measured self-look at a "wild and crazy guy." Trade paperback from Scribner (NY:2007), this is Born Standing Up: A Comic's Life by Steve Martin. First trade edition with full number line (First Thus), this copy has only two flaws - two small chips on the right front edge. Otherwise it is clean, tight, like new. Photos throughout the text show Steve Martin's life at different points on his way to stand-up fame and fortune. This book is just a lovely memoir focusing on the stand-up years, eminently readable, gracious to every person mentioned (even those who treated him badly.) Very insightful on the art and craft of turning creativity and determination into a successful career. If you are a Steve Martin fan already, you will be even more so by the time you finish this book. And if your parents are still alive, you might just want to pick up the phone and call them. « if ( document.getElementById ) { document.writeln('Show less'); }

Condition: As New
Comments: Trade paperback in like new condition except for price tag affixed to front cover. Few messages have in recent years created so much astonishment, at times bordering on disbelief, among thoughtful Christians as some leading ideas contained in the books of Father Jaki on the relation of science and religion. His writings stand out as being full of painstaking documentation, original research, and novel insights. Haffner has in this volume written an analysis of Jaki's thought.
