Binding/Media: Hardcover - 242 pages
Condition: As New
Comments: Hardcover with dj looks brand new but I acquired it secondhand. 2002 copyright. This novel by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, published in serial form in the magazine The Forerunner in 1911, portrays a multigeneration group of women who flee New England and migrate to Colorado, where they help establish a thriving new town founded on many of Gilman's principles of socialized housekeeping, professionalized child care, and economic independence for white, middle-class women. An early feminist novel by a pioneering social theorist, writer and activist. Lengthy introduction, with bountiful notes, by Jennifer S. Tuttle who also edited the novel. Quality book.
