The title of this cd says "Sacred Songs" but I bought is as a Christmas cd and also for the cover. A lot of the selections I've never heard before on a Christmas cd but nonetheless are beautiful and are a nice change of pace from the regular classical Christmas standards except for Boulanger's "Pie Jesu". As beatiful as it sounds, it could be mistaken for Halloween music. Haunting!

This is one of the most beautiful recordings imaginable. Alagna's interpretation of these spirituals is a must listen for anyone--religious or not. This is excellence from beginning to end.
